Dr. Doris Trauner and colleagues are studying how children develop language and learning skills, and how the brain reorganizes after early stroke. This study in particular looks at typically developing children and children who have had strokes in-utero or very early in life. We test various areas of development, such as language, attention, memory, and motor abilities using standardized and experimental measures. We are looking for children age 7 years to 12 years with congenital stroke to come to San Diego for testing. The testing includes an MRI scan, an EEG, and tests of language, attention, memory, reasoning, and intelligence. For more information about the study please contact the project coordinator, Jodie Badgley, at 858-822-6800, or jbadgley@ucsd.edu
